Gucci announces the opening of a new store dedicated to Gucci Valigeria, the House’s world of travel, located at David Jones Elizabeth Street flagship Sydney. Opening September 2 the 435,88 square-foot space offers a curated selection of Gucci’s travel offering including a range of luggage, carry-ons, travel bags, and other accessories from the Gucci Savoy collection. The space complements the existing Gucci store located in David Jones.
Gucci Valigeria pays homage to the House’s origins as founder Guccio Gucci created his artisanal luggage atelier in Florence in 1921, inspired by his travels to London where he worked as a porter at The Savoy hotel. There, he encountered the international jet set and the magic of travel, which at the time was synonymous with discovery, discussion, study, and acted as a bridge between diverse cultures. This connection remains a foundational element of the House’s narrative, even today.
Offering an extensive assortment, the space features items from the Gucci Savoy collection: travel-ready pieces including trolleys, hard and soft suitcases, duffle bags, trunks, hat boxes, and other accessories that are infused with and defined by the House’s symbols, with heritage elements such as the GG monogram and Web stripe.
