BIRD IN HAND x SCOTT’S SUMMER TERRACE

23 Jul 2023

Globally celebrated Australian winery Bird in Hand has embarked on an enchanting celebration of nature's splendour for the English summer, unveiling a summer terrace takeover of acclaimed Mayfair institution Scott’s ahead of the exceptional RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Over the British summer months, Mayfair’s most coveted terrace has been transformed into a setting reminiscent of warmer climates, where the floral and fruity notes of Bird in Hand's exquisite wines have inspired an abundant oasis, with lush greenery and vibrant blooms intertwining harmoniously.

“At our Australian cellar door in the Adelaide Hills, the natural environment is integral to the guest experience, with our beautiful gardens framed in almost every direction – blurring the lines between indoors and out,” said Bird in Hand co-founder Andrew Nugent. “Susie, my wife and co-founder of Bird in Hand, is a great lover of the landscape. With our summer takeover at Scott’s we hope to share some of that passion with London-goers.”

For the occasion, renowned Australian-born creative Michelle Jank has designed artwork for the partnership’s menu at Scott’s which includes an oyster pairing with Bird in Hand Riesling 2022 or Dover sole with a crisp glass of Nest Egg Chardonnay 2019.

Michelle’s artistic vision for the menu was inspired by her love of the place she now calls home and her Australian heritage, describing the collaboration poetically:  “The birds are dressed in diamonds, To dine at their favourite restaurant, To celebrate the magical London summer. For my favourite Bird in Hand family.”

“Art and creativity flow through every element of a quintessential Scott’s dining experience, from the culinary artistry of our chefs to the works that adorn the walls - and our very own ‘Renoir Room’! We are therefore delighted to be partnering with a winery that fosters creative and cultural moments and initiatives; the result of which is our beautiful ‘Terrace in Bloom’, where guests can dine among abundant florals inspired by the nuances of Bird in Hand’s floral, fruity and delectable wines throughout the summer months,” Scott’s Mayfair General Manager Steve Hutchings said.

The Scott‘s Summer Terrace is open now until August 31. to book, visit scotts-mayfair.com.
