In an effort to sustain Australia’s incredible biodiversity for future generations, Klorane has partnered with Rainforest Rescue, a non-for-profit organisation created in 1999 with objectives to protect & restore rainforests.
Rainforests are under threat from development, agriculture, and the increasing pressures of human activities and settlement. Global warming is a growing, serious issue and one way to mitigate the damage and make a real difference is to plant trees. Lots of trees.
To do this, Rainforest Rescue purchases - or rescues - unprotected Daintree rainforest properties that are not part of the Daintree National Park and protects them, forever. They also re-plant damaged rainforest to rebuild these habitats for all flora and fauna. So far, 39 properties have been saved by Rainforest Rescue in the Daintree.
There are currently only a handful of Nurseries in the Daintree region producing approximately 30,000 trees annually combined. Unfortunately, that’s not enough as climate change and habitat loss are happening faster than predicted. This is why Klorane has joined forces with Rainforest Rescue. With this partnership, Klorane helps contribute towards all the steps that go into propagating and growing 50,000 of the 75,000 seedlings that will be grown by the end of 2022. Klorane will be helping to double up the tree output across the nurseries with their investment, resulting in the largest nursery the Daintree has ever seen.

The New Nursery will be located in Cow Bay in the Daintree Rainforest, where rainforest natives will be planted with up to 132 species.

Rainforest Rescue and Klorane, together with all New Nursery Partners, are on track to propagate 75,000 seedlings in the first year of the New Nursery’s operations. As a Platinum Tiered Partner, Klorane has provided funding towards the growing of 50,000 of these 75,000 seedlings and vowed to help Rainforest Rescue grow the Wet Tropic’s largest tree nursery, set to propagate one million trees in ten years.
