THE ALCHEMIST’S GARDEN WELCOMES 1921: A NEW EAU DE PARFUM CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF GUCCI

09 Aug 2021

1921 enters The Alchemist’s Garden as Gucci marks its 100th Anniversary. With a special name dedicated to the momentous occasion, the new fragrance reflects the House’s modern yet timeless codes. Created around the distinctive Neroli Flower, blended with the Limone Cedrato fruit from Florence, it is a tribute to the beautiful city where Gucci was born a century ago – hence the evocative name, 1921.

A customizable collection of eaux de parfum, perfumed oils and acque profumate, The Alchemist’s Garden is inspired by the art of alchemy: all scents are built around a hero ingredient and can be layered together to create unique combinations. Taking the number of eaux de parfum in the collection from ten to eleven, 1921 continues the story of magic and imagination created by Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas and Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele.

Widely appreciated for its floral and sweet notes, the Neroli Flower is obtained from the steam distillation of the orange flower. Its complexity is both intense and subtle, combining an elegant density with a fizzy green edge. The greenness of the Neroli Flower blends effortlessly with the sparkling freshness of the Limone Cedrato. A zesty ingredient fresher and more floral than the lemon fruit, while reminiscent of the woody verbena plant, it leaves a lasting, lingering impression on those who encounter it. Bringing richness, intensity, and an unrivalled lastingness to the fragrance, Oakmoss provides an earthy, lush forest-like quality, a sophisticated signature note that justifies 1921 as a genderless scent for all seasons.

Inspired by the bottles found on the wooden shelves of a vintage apothecary, curious pharmacy jars and the first perfumery containers, The Alchemist’s Garden 1921 bottle comes in a transparent green glass, as an homage to one of the House’s emblematic colours. Sprayed with an intricate design, Gucci lettering and decoration appear in gold on the bottle. Emblazoned with a wreath held up by a hand, the circular shape symbolises everlasting growth and strength; no beginning or end, just the solid beauty of a hundred years past. Striking yet delicate, the bottle is housed within a regal green box accented with gold lettering for the Gucci logo and The Alchemist’s Garden’s peculiar ornamental designs.

Designed for Gucci fans and The Alchemist’s Garden collection lovers around the world, The Alchemist’s Garden 1921 EDP retails for $495, available from select MYER and David Jones stores and online.
