In a celebration of craftsmanship and time itself, The Macallan is marking its 200th anniversary with the release of the TIME : SPACE Collection, an extraordinary duo of single malt Scotch whiskies. This collection highlights The Macallan's enduring mastery, presenting both a vintage from 1940—bottled at an unprecedented 84 years old—and the first release from the new Macallan Distillery, distilled in 2018 and bottled at 5 years old.
The TIME : SPACE Collection is a tribute to The Macallan’s commitment to excellence across generations, blending cutting-edge innovation with the time-honored craftsmanship that defines the brand. The collection’s highlight, TIME : SPACE Mastery, honors the whisky masters of the past through a curated selection of oak casks, while also looking toward the future with an unprecedented new release from the brand’s state-of-the-art distillery.
The Macallan's TIME : SPACE vessel is a testament to the passage of time, with its two chambers holding whiskies from two significant eras. Encased in the outer chamber is the 1940 vintage, representing The Macallan's storied past. This rare whisky, matured for 84 years in American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry, offers a depth and richness that only time can bestow. With an ABV of 43.6%, the whisky boasts a natural color and a long-lasting, full-bodied flavor unique to this exceptional vintage.
In contrast, the central chamber houses the 2018 vintage, representing the dawn of a new era for The Macallan. This 5-year-old whisky marks the first release from the brand's new distillery, reflecting The Macallan’s continuous pursuit of excellence. Crafted with the same exacting standards, it honors the legacy of quality while hinting at the future of whisky making.
Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell expressed the significance of this dual release: “It is a rare privilege to be able to select whisky that spans such a broad timeline. The opportunity to taste and experience an 84-year-old whisky from 1940 is something truly special, and at the same time, to celebrate the future of The Macallan with a whisky from our new distillery is incredibly exciting.”
The TIME : SPACE Mastery, available in a limited release of only 200 bottles, offers a journey through 200 years of whisky-making. This unique expression blends whisky from 14 exceptional cask types, capturing layers of complexity with aromas and flavors that reflect The Macallan’s dedication to its craft. The whisky is housed in a circular vessel, a symbol of the circle of life and the journey from past to future. The case, with its vibrant red accents and intricate origami-inspired design, symbolizes nature's protection of what is most precious.

In Australia, one single bottle of The Macallan’s TIME : SPACE will be available from 2025 with TIME : SPACE Mastery (RRP: $2,700 AUD) available in selected premium liquor stores from November 2024 (subject to availability and location).
