VEJA, the French-Brazilian sneaker brand celebrated for its eco-conscious designs, has unveiled a first-ever collaboration with contemporary Brazilian fashion label P_____Andrade, founded by designers Pedro Andrade and Paula Kim. This partnership brings a fresh interpretation of VEJA’s iconic Fitz Roy hiking shoe, blending urban fashion with the natural beauty of Brazil’s landscapes.
Pedro Andrade, a storyteller through his designs, and Paula Kim drew inspiration from Brazil’s vibrant culture and nature for this collaboration. Pedro explained, “The inspiration for this shoe came from our fascination with sealing systems. We first tested the shoe during an Amazon expedition and were struck by its performance and aesthetic.” This collaboration stands as a testament to their deep connection to nature and VEJA’s ongoing mission to create fashion that balances innovation with environmental responsibility.
The special edition Fitz Roy draws its color palette from the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, featuring earthy tones, greys, and blues that reflect the diverse layers of nature. Designed to perform in both rugged outdoor settings and urban environments, the Fitz Roy is crafted from Alveomesh, a breathable, flexible, and lightweight material made entirely from recycled polyester. This sustainable material ensures both comfort and durability, allowing the shoe to move seamlessly between city streets and nature trails.
The sole of the Fitz Roy is made with 31% Amazonian rubber, ensuring strong grip and stability, ideal for navigating various terrains. Additionally, the shoe is equipped with a protective Rock-plate, made from a combination of sugarcane and Amazonian rubber, designed to shield feet from sharp rocks and other challenging elements encountered during outdoor adventures. The L-Foam cushioning, crafted with 50% natural latex, adds comfort while reducing impact and vibrations, making the Fitz Roy an essential companion for long hikes or urban exploration.
