Jaguar TCS Racing Crowned 2024 ABB FIA Formula E Teams' World Champions

28 Jul 2024

Jaguar TCS Racing has emerged victorious as the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E Teams' World Champions after an exhilarating season finale. The tension was palpable during the close qualifying session, where Nick Cassidy secured Pole position and Mitch Evans took third place. The early part of the race, following a safety car, saw the two Jaguar drivers taking command, leading Drivers’ Championship leader Pascal Wehrlein.

Nick Cassidy's strategic play saw him taking the second of his two Attack Modes by lap 14, allowing Mitch Evans to lead from Wehrlein. With Nick in third and both Mitch and Wehrlein still needing to take their final attacks, Nick was poised to seize the lead in the closing stages. However, an unfortunate contact from Porsche’s Antonio Felix Da Costa resulted in a puncture for Nick, ending his race and his chance at the Drivers’ World Championship.

By lap 33, Mitch Evans, having finally secured his second Attack Mode after an initial failed attempt, found himself in third place behind Rowland and Wehrlein. These positions remained unchanged until the finish line.

Reflecting on the achievement, Mitch Evans, Jaguar TCS Racing driver #9, remarked, “It’s really difficult today. Securing the Teams’ World Championship is a fantastic achievement. I’m really happy for the team and everyone at Jaguar deserves this so much. They deserved it a long time ago and it’s great it’s now finally done, but I do still feel disappointed that neither Nick nor I could get the Drivers’ World Championship. We achieved half of what we set out to achieve but sadly didn’t finish it.”

Nick Cassidy, Jaguar TCS Racing driver #37, added, "I think what we did this morning was unbelievable - to not do a single lap in FP3, but then go on to be quickest overall in the groups and then take Pole position. I was just incredibly proud of how strong I was mentally. Congratulations to all of our team at Jaguar TCS Racing on winning the Teams' World Championship, they thoroughly deserve it."

This remarkable victory comes after a landmark season for Jaguar TCS Racing. Earlier in the season, the team celebrated its 100th Formula E race in Tokyo. In Monaco, Jaguar announced its continued commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, with plans to compete in the GEN4 era through to 2030.
