AKIRA ISOGAWA x IORDANES SPYRIDON GOGOS COLLECTABLE CAPSULE IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR SALE AT PARLOUR X

15 Apr 2024

Akira Isogawa and Jordan Gogos have unveiled a highly collectible art-meets-fashion capsule collection at Sydney’s iconic luxury multi-brand retailer, Parlour X.

The limited-edition collaboration takes archival Isogawa hand-printed and hand-crafted fabrics and gives them a second life with Gogo’s playful approach.

Parlour X was the obvious choice to retail the capsule, given founder Eva Galambos’ longstanding relationship with both creatives - and a persistent desire to spur unique collaborations within the Australian Fashion world.

The capsule departs from the maximalism of the duos’ previous work and embraces geometric, clean lines to retain a timeless appeal.

“A square has infinite possibilities,” explains Gogos. “What would it mean to wrap, fold, and handle these organic shapes in multiple ways and re-purpose each piece for your lifestyle?

Galambos agrees, stating that “it’s an art collaboration first and foremost, because these pieces can be worn and displayed with great fluidity, across the body, on walls, or used for accentuating furniture.”

“As soon as Jordan and Akira told me about this Capsule, I was in,” she elaborates. “Jordan is a true creative; his pieces are anything but ‘another clothing brand’.”

Akira, too, is an old friend and collaborator of Galambos, so when archival fabrics came to light, and the capsule collection was born, Parlour X celebrated with an intimate and exclusive soirée that welcomed industry friends and VIPS.

As well as watercolour paintings translated into woven fabrics, the capsule includes Japanese florals from a 1997 Isogawa show, alone a priceless relic of Australian fashion history.

“If the fabric is used in Capsule 1, nothing is left of it”, explains Gogos. “Whoever takes one of these pieces home gets to keep that moment forever.”

Creatives, media, and private collectors were treated to custom Glenfiddich cocktails while being treated to nine pieces of ‘wearable art’—tops, kimonos, and pants that can also be just as effortlessly be displayed on walls or adorn furniture.

Akira Isogawa x Jordan Gogos Capsule 1 is available at the Parlour X boutique and www.parlourx.com from April 12th until April 26th.
