The Aesop Queer Library, 2024 - Literature to uplift and empower

14 Feb 2024

Founded on a belief in the transformative power of queer storytelling—its ability to broaden minds, embolden individuals and unite the community and its allies—the Aesop Queer Library is returning to Melbourne and Sydney.

The shelves of Aesop QV will be devoted to amplifying queer Australian and New Zealand stories, showcasing a selection of titles by 45 LGBTQIA+ authors, followed by Aesop Bondi Junction from 28 February – 3 March. Visitors are invited to discover literature that uplifts and inspires, and choose a complimentary book to cherish, share and discuss.

With this third iteration of the Queer Library in Australia, Aesop continues to platform a diverse range of queer voices, extending the selection to include a wider representation of BIPOC, trans and gender non-conforming authors.

This year the focus is on contemporary stories that empower, and writers of the current and the next generations who are challenging boundaries and shifting the narrative for positive change.

By celebrating Australian and New Zealand LGBTQIA+ voices that are underheard on the global stage, the Aesop Queer Library will help carve out space for their stories in publishing and beyond.

The ephemeral activation comprises volumes that have been purchased from independent queer bookstore Hares & Hyenas, as well as Allen & Unwin and University of Queensland Press.
