Ouranon Eau de Parfum encapsulates the interplay of permanence and decay via earthy minerality, incandescent spices and ritualistic, resinous woods. This elegiac scent is the sixth and final instalment of Othertopias, a collection of transportive aromas that traverse spaces both real and imagined, challenging perceptions along the way. Like the eroding vestiges of a stone circle whose precise meaning has been lost to time, it evokes the timeless yearning to reach out beyond this world and transcend the finite nature of existence.
A poetic ending—or stirring new chapter—Ouranon opens with the sparkling citrus of Petitgrain alongside the green, vibrant spice of Elemi and fresh, almost camphoraceous notes of Lavender Flower. These gradually recede to reveal the vast expanse of warm aromatics that make up the fragrance’s heart—resonant herbaceous notes of Chamomile, amplified by Hay and underpinned by rich, resinous Frankincense. Ouranon’s final act alludes to silent monoliths casting shadows in the moonlight—steeped in ambery warmth, Myrrh exudes enduring minerality, descending into the powerful and dark earthiness of Patchouli and rich, rounded notes of Tonka.
Similar to the other instalments of the Othertopias collection, Ouranon Eau de Parfum was created with Aesop’s long-term fragrance partner Barnabé Fillion, and is designed for all who take pleasure in evocative aromas, regardless of gender. The first Othertopias Eaux de Parfum— Miraceti, Karst and Erémia—were launched in 2021. Eidesis was released in 2022, with Gloam and Ouranon completing the collection in 2023. Ouranon is the tenth Eau De Parfum in Aesop’s Fragrance range, which also includes R?zu Eau de Parfum as well as Aesop’s Classic Fragrances: Marrakech Intense, Tacit and Hwyl Eaux de Parfum. Ouranon Eau de Parfum is packaged in a 50mL amber glass bottle and encased in a carton featuring artwork by Belfast- based painter Jack Coulter.
