Set within the construction site of the Dion Lee New York store at 11 Mercer Street SOHO, the fall winter collection will launch with the opening of the store mid-summer 2021.
Horsepower - This season explores a feeling of strength and control, through the language of horses and breathing.
Design signatures of the brand are explored through saddlery, bridles, blinders and stirrups, along with the silhouette and features of the animal.
Rituals and the ceremony of dressing come through from an equestrian language and perspective.
The Dion Lee corsetry, leatherwear and hardware deconstructs traditional saddlery techniques, with custom eyelets and belted fastenings. Harnessing leathers are softened by lung shape formations in draped rib knitwear and crochet corsetry.
Sculptural outerwear takes a utilitarian approach, with integrated saddlery, in waterproof canvas, calf hair and shearling.
Striped rib v-neck sweaters are deconstructed to create harnessing tube tops in chunky cotton knitwear.
Y-front underwear is abstracted into interlocking bodysuits and long johns, that stirrup on the body in cashmere rib jersey, creating a softness and ease in layering items.
The collection also launches a collaboration with both footwear, with six styles that include a heeled ankle boot, knee high + thigh high utility boot. Fabrications include leather, suede, calf hair and shearling, along with custom Dion Lee hardware.
