Celebrating the very best of Mother Nature, this year Jurlique’s Mother’s Day gift selection is adorned with the artwork of mother and daughter duo Miimi & Jiinda. As Indigenous women, Lauren Jarrett and Melissa Greenwood create unique artworks that share their interpretations of Country, their personal stories and unique journeys. Their creations endeavour to uplift and inspire our senses and in honouring the exquisite beauty of feminine energy Jurlique are proud to partner with Aboriginal artists Lauren and Melissa.
Raised to always show the deepest respect to Elders, Miimi & Jiinda’s artworks reveal a deep understanding that everything is living and interconnected. Jurlique shares this view of the natural world and the sacred role of Mother Nature. And so, this Mother’s Day, Miimi & Jiinda’s Lowanna Dreaming adorns our gifting collections of best- selling and iconic products inspired by nature.
“My strongest inspiration for my art comes from my Country. The land we live on is everything; the earth is our greatest teacher, our knowledge holder and our divine authority.” – Lauren Jarrett, Miimi & Jiinda.
About the Artwork Lowanna Dreaming: The art and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are among the oldest in human history. In the language belonging to the Gumbaynggirr tribe of Australia’s East Coast, Lowanna is a name for girl and also means exquisite beauty. This image represents the exquisite beauty of the feminine energy when it is aligned, and in its truest and most authentic form.
As part of the partnership, Jurlique has also pledged $5,000 to a charity chosen by Miimi & Jiinda. Funds will support a new education initiative, the Gumbaynggirr Giingana Freedom School (GGFS), which will be the first bilingual school featuring an Aboriginal language. Set to open in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia, the GGFS will teach kindergarten to Year 2 classes in both Gumbaynggirr language and English.
This Mother’s Day we honour mothers, motherhood, maternal bonds and the eternal power of Mother Nature. Jurlique shares with Miimi & Jiinda a deep respect for nature, the importance of living in harmony with the land through our certified biodynamic farming. We are proud to partner with Miimi & Jiinda, to share their stories, and creations, with the world.
Miimi & Jiinda for Jurlique Mother’s Day gifting collections launch at Jurlique stores and online, selected Myer & David Jones stores.
In the spirit of honouring our First Nations people and deeply acknowledging their connection to this land, we pay our respects to the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia.
