Discover Perrier-Jouet’s New, Eco-Designed Gift Box - Uniting Beauty and Sustainability

18 Apr 2022

Nature has been at the heart of Maison Perrier-Jouet for more than 200?years. A constant source of inspiration, it has now resulted in a new, eco-designed gift box that is both beautiful and sustainable. The house is reinventing the art of gifting, infusing it with a new dimension that is of essential importance for all, environmental responsibility.

Fully recyclable, the new, eco-designed gift box is made with 100% natural fibres, sourced from FSC-certified forests and is ink and glue free. Designed and developed in France, the new eco-designed gift box has achieved a 30% weight reduction when compared to the previous gift box, reducing the house’s overall environmental impact.

Maison Perrier-Jouet has evolved in symbiosis with nature since 1811, true to the ethos of its founders: Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouet, a young couple united by their love of art and nature. Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and his son Charles were known as botanists and horticulturists. They introduced progressive ideas for the time on natural viticulture and vineyard management.

With ongoing progress of the eco-designed packaging, the glass bottles used by Perrier-Jouet are recyclable and lighter than ever before, limiting their impact on nature. The renowned green bottles contain 85% recycled glass and the house’s entire gifting offer will be eco-designed by 2022.

Perrier-Jouet is implementing an ambitious programme to promote sustainable viticulture with 100% of their vineyard in Champagne being certified as Sustainable Viticulture. As well as a zero-herbicide policy, preservation of biodiversity and new sustainable growing practices.
A virtuous value chain, from the grape to the glass, Perrier-Jouet acts at every stage in the production of its champagnes to reduce its environmental impact. Monitoring their carbon-footprint since 2009, the house has achieved a 55% reduction in Scope 1 and 1 CO2 emissions, green energy at all production sites, a zero-air policy for transport to customers, and 100% of the by-products of vinification are recycled to be transformed.

Maison Perrier-Jouet are committed to sustainability, and this is only the start of a long series of initiatives.
