The Attar Revival You’ll Want to Experience: Amouage Reimagines Its Iconic Oils with Luban Al Akhdar

31 Dec 2025

There is a growing fascination this season with perfumery traditions that feel intimate, time-honoured and intentionally crafted. As temperatures rise and gifting moments begin to shape the end of the year, attars are quietly finding their way back into the fragrance wardrobes of collectors who crave depth, artistry and connection. Against this renewed appreciation, Amouage has unveiled a refreshed aesthetic for its acclaimed Attars collection and introduced a striking new creation, Luban Al Akhdar, now available in Australia through libertineparfumerie.com.au.

The art of attar-making sits at the crossroads of history and craftsmanship. Unlike most fragrances diluted in alcohol or neutral solvents, attars are built entirely from scented materials, each drop contributing its full character. This makes the composition a demanding form of perfumery, reserved for those with exceptional technical precision and a deep understanding of raw materials. Amouage has long demonstrated mastery in this space, and its new chapter for the Attars elevates both the sensory experience and the visual storytelling.

Luban Al Akhdar, composed by perfumer Quentin Bisch, draws inspiration from Oman’s treasured frankincense—specifically the green-hued resin renowned for its bright, mineral, smoky, and citrus-touched complexity. Instead of portraying the material literally, the fragrance imagines frankincense as a concept. Its resinous facets are abstracted into airy notes lifted by aldehydes and citrus materials, while myrrh and labdanum anchor the composition with grounding warmth. The result is a frankincense reframed: translucent yet earthy, crackling with green brightness and unexpected softness. It feels like stepping into a familiar landscape reborn under new light.

To mark this evolution, Leather Sadah also transitions from exclusivity into the core Attars collection. Created by Cecile Zarokian, it channels the expressive duality of oud Assam. Tempered by vanilla absolute, it unfolds in a hypnotic contrast of tempestuous leather and tender warmth. Applied to the skin, it feels intimate and controlled, its complexity revealing itself slowly through the day.

The reimagined packaging reflects this refined artistic direction. The flacons feature an improved cap and applicator designed for a more precise and personal application ritual. The outer presentation incorporates a horizontal gold band that brings a modern edge to the collection’s classical silhouette. For the new campaign, Paris-based Narcisse Agency created imagery inspired by the raw textures of Omani clay architecture—stacked earthen forms, terracotta hues, and a palette grounded in sand and stone. The visuals echo the region’s terrain and the heritage that has shaped Amouage since its founding.

For Australian fragrance collectors seeking depth beyond the conventional Eau de Parfum wardrobe, the Attars offer a uniquely personal encounter with scent. Luban Al Akhdar and Leather Sadah, priced at AUD 879 for 12ml perfume oil or as part of the six-piece Attar Coffret at AUD 3,200, invite exploration of perfumery at its purest, most concentrated, and most artistic form. Discover the collection through libertineparfumerie.com.au, where Amouage continues to evolve the dialogue between heritage and contemporary luxury.
