Amouage Opens a New Chapter with Opus XVI – Timber, A Monument to Ancient Wisdom

02 Sep 2025

Amouage has unveiled its latest addition to the Library Collection, Opus XVI – Timber, a fragrance that pays homage to the age-old wisdom carried by the world’s most enduring creations: the towering sequoias of California and the revered frankincense trees of Oman.

Crafted by perfumer Alexis Grugeon under the creative direction of Renaud Salmon, Timber is a daring exploration of woods. From the first impression, it evokes monumentality—stately, vertical, and immovable like a sequoia. Yet as the scent evolves, a multitude of nuances emerge. Cypress, cardamom, and lavandin offer brightness and a sense of openness, while frankincense, juniper, and fir balsam bring an aromatic strength that connects past and present. The base anchors the composition with palo santo, sandalwood, cedarwood, vetiver, patchouli, and a touch of vanilla bourbon, embodying an unshakeable authority that is both timeless and forward-looking.

Presented in Amouage’s signature khanjar flacon in a soft Cashmere hue, the bottle is accompanied by an outer sleeve designed by Belgian artist Louise Mertens. The vertical band running from top to bottom recalls the eternal rise of trees through history, a striking visual echo of the fragrance’s inspiration.

Timber is available worldwide from September 1st. At a concentration of 25% eau de parfum, it retails for approximately AUD $599 (100ml), reflecting the artistry and craftsmanship at the heart of the Omani High Perfumery house.

With Timber, Amouage expands its Library Collection with a creation that is at once monumental and approachable, a reminder that the wisdom of the past can illuminate the path forward.
