From 11–15 June, Aesop’s Prahran signature store will trade scent for story, transforming its shelves into a curated library of literature by LGBTQIA+ authors. No skincare, no checkout—just words that liberate, challenge, and connect. For the fifth year running, the Aesop Queer Library returns, this time under a global theme: In other words. It’s an invitation to explore the nuance and power of queer storytelling beyond heteronormative expectations.
Since its inception, Aesop has distributed over 100,000 books worldwide through the initiative, reaffirming its belief that literature can be a catalyst for self-discovery, empathy, and cultural change. Visitors to the Prahran location during the Library’s five-day run will be able to select a complimentary book to take home, sourced in partnership with Penguin Random House and local independent booksellers.
This year’s collection reflects a broad spectrum of queer identities and lived experiences, creating a space that feels both intimate and expansive. More than a literary gesture, the in-store experience is crafted to encourage pause—with aromatic elements woven gently through the air, inviting guests to linger, reflect, and reconnect with the quiet joy of reading. It echoes Aesop’s founding belief: that beauty lives far beyond the surface, and that stories—especially those too often unheard—belong at the heart of our shared cultural conversation.
