Aesop Launches Lucent Facial Refiner—A Dual-Action Mask That Illuminates and Renews

26 May 2025

Aesop has introduced a new addition to its skincare ritual: the Lucent Facial Refiner, a rinse-off exfoliating mask designed to refine, replenish, and reframe what exfoliation can feel like.

Housed in the brand’s signature amber glass, the formulation marks a first for Aesop—combining both beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) and polyhydroxy acid (PHA) in a single treatment. The result is a mask that gently dissolves dead skin cells while hydrating and nourishing in equal measure.

Where physical exfoliants like the Purifying Facial Exfoliant Paste rely on granular texture, the Lucent Facial Refiner offers a more modern approach. It draws on Salicylic Acid (BHA) and Gluconolactone (PHA) for surface renewal, while Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Vitamin E, and Linoleic Acid (Vitamin F) help restore and support the skin barrier.

Aromatic essential oils of frankincense, sandalwood, and rose petal add a warm, woody-floral layer to the gel-cream texture, turning a 15-minute treatment into a grounding ritual. The brand suggests pairing the moment with an Aesop-curated playlist or a page of poetry—a reminder that skincare, too, can be a cultural act.

The new launch also complements Aesop’s Lucent Facial Concentrate—a lightweight serum formulated with Vitamin C and Niacinamide. Used together, the duo helps visibly smooth, brighten and even the complexion over time, offering a gentle yet results-driven way to address dullness or early signs of hyperpigmentation.

Designed for twice-weekly use, the Lucent Facial Refiner retails for $120 AUD (60mL) and is available now at aesop.com and Aesop signature stores across Australia.
