Defender Drives a New Era of Women’s Rugby with Bold Partnership at World Cup 2025

18 Apr 2025

In a powerful move that reinforces its decades-long commitment to rugby, Defender has officially stepped into the spotlight as Principal Partner of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. With the global women’s game reaching new heights, this partnership places Defender at the heart of a historic moment—one that’s poised to redefine the visibility, strength, and spirit of female athletes on the world stage.

Building on Land Rover’s 25-year legacy in rugby, this partnership is far more than branding. It’s a mission. Through its Trailblazer campaign, Defender is honouring the determination, resilience, and ambition of women and girls who challenge limits, break new ground, and embody the brand’s Embrace the Impossible ethos. These Trailblazers will be spotlighted throughout the tournament, inspiring audiences with real stories of grit and greatness.

But Defender’s investment goes beyond the elite level. The Defender Mascot Programme will recruit 64 young players—boys and girls—from key rugby nations including England, France, New Zealand and Ireland. Selected through Defender retailers and local rugby communities, these mascots will stand alongside athletes on the world’s biggest stage, reminding the next generation of what’s possible when belief meets opportunity.

Taking place from 22 August to 27 September 2025, the Women’s Rugby World Cup will unfold across eight cities in England, opening with a headline match between England and the USA at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. For Defender, whose roots are deeply embedded in British engineering and resilience, this home-soil moment is more than symbolic—it’s a declaration.

“We’re proud to champion our Trailblazers and celebrate the power of this game through every player, every mascot, every story,” said Mark Cameron, Managing Director of Defender. “This tournament represents the toughest challenge in the sport—and the ultimate celebration of human endurance.”

As women’s rugby steps into its boldest chapter yet, Defender is helping drive it forward—one fearless tackle, try, and triumph at a time.
