Aston Martin Valkyrie Takes on Le Mans – A New Era Begins

12 Feb 2025

Aston Martin’s Valkyrie hypercar has arrived with its sights set on the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Returning to the world’s most prestigious endurance race, Aston Martin enters a new chapter with its purebred competitor, developed from the road-going Valkyrie to take on the track.

The Valkyrie is the only hypercar in the field that is derived from a road-legal production car. Built to comply with the FIA’s ‘Hypercar’ regulations, it will compete in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2025, making it the only car of its kind to contest these prestigious series.

Aston Martin’s commitment to endurance racing shines through as the works Aston Martin THOR Team prepares to take on the 2025 season, marking the brand’s return to the top of motorsport. The Valkyrie’s performance is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine, designed to offer ultimate endurance capabilities while maintaining its road-car roots.

The debut of the Valkyrie will come on 28 February, at the Qatar 1812Km, the opening round of the 2025 WEC. Alongside, Aston Martin’s all-British driver lineup, including seasoned Le Mans winners like Harry Tincknell, will take to the track. The team, led by The Heart of Racing (THOR), aims to bring Aston Martin’s first overall victory at Le Mans since 1959.

As the only hypercar derived from a road-going car, the Valkyrie stands as a unique testament to Aston Martin’s relentless pursuit of performance and racing excellence.
