Timeless Elegance: Chopard L.U.C Lunar One Redefines Astronomical Precision

20 Jan 2025

Chopard continues to captivate the world of haute horology with the latest reinterpretation of its celebrated L.U.C Lunar One, a timepiece that stands as a testament to the brand's extraordinary craftsmanship and innovation. First unveiled in 2005, the L.U.C Lunar One revolutionized the world of perpetual calendars with its precision orbital moon-phase display. Today, this historical model has been reimagined with a refined, slimmer aesthetic, presenting a timeless fusion of artistry and cutting-edge engineering.

At the heart of the L.U.C Lunar One lies the remarkable self-winding L.U.C Calibre 96.13-L, a movement that boasts perpetual calendar functionality and astronomical moon-phase precision. This technical marvel is capable of achieving an astonishing level of accuracy, requiring adjustment only once every 122 years. The orbital moon-phase display, designed to replicate the movement of the night sky from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, showcases celestial craftsmanship at its finest. With a micro-rotor crafted from solid gold and a 65-hour power reserve, this movement is a masterpiece of watchmaking ingenuity.

Chopard's dedication to excellence is evident in the meticulous finishing of each timepiece, recognized by the prestigious Poinçon de Genève. Every detail, from the chamfered edges to the Côtes de Genève patterns, reflects the artistry and precision for which Chopard is renowned. This commitment to craftsmanship extends to the new case design, a slimmer 40.5 mm silhouette crafted in ethical 18-carat white or rose gold. The bassine shape, inspired by Chopard's 19th-century pocket watches, combines vertical satin-brushed sides with a domed polished bezel, creating an elegant and harmonious profile.

The hand-guilloché dial, available in deep blue or salmon pink, radiates from the moon-phase indicator at 6 o'clock, offering both aesthetic beauty and functional clarity. Dauphine fusée hands and herringbone-style hour markers in gold complement the dial's intricate details, while the large twin-aperture date window and concentric snailed patterns enhance its legibility.

Adding to the versatility of the L.U.C Lunar One, Chopard introduces an interchangeable strap system for the first time in this collection. With a quick, tool-free mechanism, wearers can effortlessly transition between the supplied alligator leather and calfskin straps or explore additional options available at Chopard boutiques. This innovation ensures the L.U.C Lunar One is as adaptable as it is exquisite, seamlessly accompanying any occasion.

Since the debut of the L.U.C 1860 in 1997, Chopard Manufacture has set benchmarks in horological excellence. Under the visionary leadership of Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, the L.U.C collection embodies the perfect balance of tradition and innovation. The new L.U.C Lunar One continues this legacy, redefining timeless sophistication for discerning connoisseurs.
