The creations in the second chapter of the Diorama & Diorigami collection – dreamed up by Victoire de Castellane – feature fantastic flora and fauna in vibrant tones.
Like a marvelous Eden to be worn upon the skin, several sets reveal a magical landscape. Mischievous animals – such as a doe hiding behind a grove or swans gliding majestically on a pond – inhabit this enchanted forest.
Reflecting the spirit of Parisian couture so dear to Christian Dior, some of these exquisite tableaux also celebrate the virtuoso technique of pleating, the meticulous work on fabric sublimating the skirt of the emblematic Bar suit. In Le Petit Dictionnaire de la Mode, Monsieur Dior defines this unique process as “a high point of fashion.” Illustrating this exceptional artisanship, precious necklaces, rings and earrings are adorned with delicate flowers resembling subtle origami. As if folded with painstaking care, they compose a luxuriant vegetation with irresistibly geometric lines.
At the heart of this captivating tale, the figurative art of Dior jewelry unfolds in sumptuous, fabulously vivid detail, sketched by stones in sparkling shades. “Jewelry is only as good as its color,” wrote Monsieur Dior. An aesthetic in the name of excellence, embodied more than ever by a nature-couture narrative, divinely multi-hued, weaving a shimmering weft with striking plays of light.
