Bird in Hand has once again partnered with the iconic Sydney Swans, releasing an exclusive limited-edition collection of wines to mark the club's 150th anniversary. In this special collaboration, the Adelaide Hills-based winery presents the 2016 Nest Egg Cabernet Sauvignon in a six-bottle set that commemorates pivotal moments in the Swans' long and storied history.
Limited to only 150 cases, each bottle in this elegant set is individually numbered and celebrates significant milestones from the club's legacy. From the founding of the South Melbourne Football Club in 1874 to the Sydney Swans' modern-day success, each label tells a piece of the club’s history, bridging generations of triumph, resilience, and passion. The collection also pays homage to key events such as the club's 1982 relocation to Sydney, their legendary 2005 Grand Final victory, and their first historic AFLW match in 2022. This exquisite collection culminates with a label dedicated to the Swans’ 150th anniversary in 2024, encapsulating a century-and-a-half of football excellence.
The collaboration with Bird in Hand reflects the winery's ongoing support of the Sydney Swans, having recently renewed their partnership as the official wine partner of both the AFL and AFLW teams until the end of the 2025 season. Co-founder of Bird in Hand, Andrew Nugent, expressed the significance of this partnership: “We are proud to present these limited-edition wines in collaboration with the Sydney Swans. The sets unite iconic moments from the club’s 150-year journey with one of our exclusive wines from the pinnacle Nest Egg collection.”
This release is a truly exclusive collector’s item, embodying the strength and spirit of both the Sydney Swans and Bird in Hand's fine craftsmanship. Whether as a keepsake or as a testament to fine winemaking, the six-bottle set is a beautiful fusion of sport, history, and artistry.
For those looking to own a piece of Swans history, the collection is priced at $900 per case and available exclusively through the Bird in Hand website here.
