Haydenshapes, world leading Australian performance surfboard brand, founded by multidisciplinary designer Hayden Cox, has been tapped by Kith and Marvel to create a limited edition ‘Silver Surfer’ Surfboards as part of the Kith | Marvel collection spanning apparel, accessories and collectables —reimagining iconic Marvel villains through the Kith lens.
Marking the first ever Marvel stamped release of a high performance ‘Silver Surfer’ surfboard, avid fans and collectors were quick to snap up the limited edition drop within moments of the August release via Kith.com.
So what goes into creating the surfboard of Marvel’s iconic wave riding anti-hero? Each one was crafted by hand in Sydney, Australia, under Haydenshapes purpose designed and propriety flexible lightweight performance chroming methods to replicate the iconic board. The process per board extends to approximately 50 hours each piece, with 28 individual processes undertaken to achieve a lightweight and functional performance surfboard.
From the shores of Zenn-La to the cosmic storms, this board is 6’4” x 20 1⁄2” x 2 5/8” - 38.39L and made from traditional PU foam and polyester laminated fibreglass. It is recommended mortals ride this on longer point breaks from 2-8ft, and carve through waves with the same precision the Silver Surfer uses to dodge asteroids and space debris.
The ‘Silver Surfer’ surfboard release marks the 4th collaborative surfboard instalment of Haydenshapes ongoing partnership with Kith.
