Now, in collaboration with Aimé Leon Dore, the Maison unveils a collection that channels both its rich heritage and the classic elegance synonymous with the New York-based label.
Rooted in a shared commitment to timeless design, the new collection introduces a revival of romanticism in travel, with Aimé Leon Dore drawing inspiration from RIMOWA’s pioneering spirit throughout the golden era of travel in the early 20th century. Featuring the RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Chest and the RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Cabin, both pieces embrace the essence of classic travel while infusing modern sensibilities.
Manufactured in Germany and assembled by hand, the collection is a testament to German precision and craftsmanship. Crafted using the design codes of RIMOWA's iconic Classic range, the pieces honour tradition while embracing Aimé Leon Dore’s signature green hue.
Made further distinct with gold-plated hardware, the collection nods to the timeless design of an archival RIMOWA Cabin Trunk dating to 1964. This piece serves as a cornerstone in the creation of the collection, particularly the RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Chest— a newly introduced piece exclusive to the collection. With the new RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Chest, the 1960s RIMOWA Trunk evolves from a design made to easily stack on trains, into a sophisticated design piece perfect for any home.
Among their bespoke elements, the RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Chest and the RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Cabin feature brown leather-made handles and straps as well as co-branded leather-covered logo badges with gold embossing adorning each piece. To complete the design, the cases’ interior features a bespoke resilient nylon lining with a unique patterning of ancient Greek stamp iconography, a signature artwork by Aimé Leon Dore.
Starting May 31, 2024, the RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Chest (RRP 3200 €) and the RIMOWA x AIMÉ LEON DORE Cabin (RRP 2200 €) will be available in stores and online at RIMOWA.com.
