Sharing a taste for the avant-garde as well as tradition, Christian Dior forged strong ties with the land of the Rising Sun. From an early age, he saw it as a place of fascination, and nurtured an admiration for Japan’s cultural wealth, at the convergence of refinement and purity. Celebrating this unfaltering friendship, Dior Maison is unveiling the Les Cerisiers collection, the main inspiration of which is the spring-summer 1953 haute couture ensemble named Jardin japonais, sublimated by a bird motif on a cherry blossom tree. A series of essential pieces are adorned with this reinterpreted iconic design: decorative objects – sometimes enhanced with raffia – tableware, glassware and table linens. Two boxes developed in collaboration with the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy, founded in 1798, complete this selection. An eternal dream of elsewhere.
