February 2021 - Gucci announces the arrival of its latest series of Gucci Pins, the ephemeral stores inspired by the pins seen on interactive digital maps, this time dedicated to the Doraemon x Gucci collection. Showcasing the products in an immersive, dedicated environment, which reflects Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s unconventional approach to luxury fashion, the initiative is aimed at connecting and engaging with clients over the world and their surrounding communities and debuts now in Australia, Sydney.
The Doraemon x Gucci collection, conceived to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, was imagined by Alessandro Michele as a lineup of special items that feature the famous Japanese manga and anime character, Doraemon – the cat-type robot sent from the XXII century to help a young boy called Nobita Nobi with secret gadgets from his four-dimensional pouch. The character, appearing both in his classic look and disguised as an Ox, paying homage to this year’s symbology in the Chinese Zodiac, is at the centre stage of the collection – which also marks the manga’s 50th anniversary.
Crossing the magical pink “Anywhere Door” of the Doraemon x Gucci pins, visitors find themselves in an enchanted space, which blends the whimsical world of Gucci with elements inspired by the home of the Nobi family, highly recognisable for Doraemon’s fans. The patterns, in bright colours, take over the codes of this imaginary Japanese house, creating playful shades for a truly immersive shopping experience.
