AJE RESORT 22 ‘SCENT OF SUMMER’

11 May 2021

Created by co-founders Adrian Norris and Edwina Forest in 2008, esteemed Australian fashion house Aje today on Tuesday 11th May at 3:30pm, presented their Resort 22 collection at The Calyx, Royal Botanic Garden.

In an ode to escapism; of sensory delectation; ‘Scent of Summer’ is designed to invite your senses to step into the mood, feeling and metaphor of Summer.

As the world continues to move through a state of flux, Australian fashion house Aje’s Resort 22 runway collection offers a dreamscape of summer; a voyage to another time and place, where hearts ran free, and souls ran wild.

The Resort 22 collection is enveloped in colour, playfully contrasting bold neon with sophisticated neutrals. The collection is anchored by opulent shapes with overblown proportions, voluminous puff sleeves, cut out details, structured forms and floating lengths in a reference to heritage and modern Aje silhouettes.

Ornate and unexpected embellishments transpire in floral sequinning and hand beaded daisies applied on transparent organza in cut-out Sixties shapes, while handsewn guipure applique and hand ruched flowers in cotton poplin reflect a long-standing devotion to artisanal techniques and craftsmanship.

The season’s hand painted overblown floral prints in signature fabrications of silk linen and cotton poplin are each a symbolic nod to summertime bliss in tones of citrus, olive, fuchsia and wallpaper floral. Organic shaped hand cast hardware in metal and resin are accented throughout, while bespoke broderie anglaise sits beside Italian yarn knits in hand crocheted racer styles.

Presented within the heart of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Australia, Aje together with the artistic hands of Saskia Havekes of Grandiflora, created a bespoke horticultural environment, nestled in nature. The citrus-hued, circular runway, grounded by moss mounds was met by odoriferous elements through herbs, citrus fruits and greenery, heightening the senses.

A rhapsody to long-lasting summers and the bygone beauty of the 1960’s, Aje partnered with Vanessa Megan Skincare and MONDAY Haircare on creating a natural palette and undone, tussled hair. Biode salve was applied to highlight the soft palette, paired with Gloss and Co. nails fitting to the hues of the collection.

Thirty-nine full looks showcased the breadth of Aje’s ready-to-wear, accessory and jewellery design categories. Looks throughout the collection were styled alongside an elegant Longines timepiece, or with design collaborations by Superga shoes, bespoke hat wear by Helen Kaminksi and a new eyewear union with Local Supply.

Aje welcomed friends of the brand to experience the chromatic collection through an independent runway, Aje invited brand collaborator Yvonne Weldon to perform a Welcome To Country, and embraced media and industry guests, alongside actors Grace Huang, the talented Cocqueril’s, together with models Georgia Fowler and Victoria Lee as well as creative friends of brand including Louise Olsen, Camille Ormandy, Gabrielle Penfold, Sarah Ellen, Nadia Fairfax, Yan Yan Chan, Brooke Testoni and Bella Thomas amongst other talented taste makers, artists, architects and prominent faces, Anna Heinreich and Kate Waterhouse.

All products co-designed for the Aje Resort 22 runway collection will be available from October 2021 through the Aje retail network of 20 stores and ajeworld.com.au in Australia, New Zealand and rest of world.

The creative and collaborative nature and spirit of the brand is further illuminated by Aje Resort 22 partners. The partnership celebrates that Aje customers can now shop with Klarna at ajeworld.com.au and Australian stores. Klarna offers flexibility and innovation, unlocking limitless purchasing possibilities for the Aje international and local audience alike.
